Salena Estate Wines -Ink Series

The Ink Series range was created to highlight a group of special interest wines that are not produced on a regular basis, but are only made when the winemakers find parcels of wine that deserve special attention. It may be because the wines are of an unusual grape variety, or because they show peculiarly intense varietal characters or are distinguished by some other character that sets them apart from other wines in that group.

The Ink Series wines receive special care and attention from our winemakers, and are always made in extremely limited quantities. They are worth seeking out because of their uniqueness.

	2010 Ink Series Bianco d'Alessano	Details
	Bianco d’Alessano This outstanding white wine recently won three trophies and a gold medal at the 2010 Australian Alternative Varieties Wine Show. It is produced from a little known Italian grape variety, Bianco d’Alessano, and Salena Estate is the only company to have this variety in Australia. It has produced a fresh and vibrant white wine with delightful aromas of grapefruit and green apples. The palate is reminiscent of pears and loquats, while the wine finishes with a crisp and clean citrus finish. This wine is deliciously easy drinking now while it is young and fresh. 	2011 Ink Series Pinot Grigio
	Pale straw with a very slight bronze tinge. The nose is lightly perfumed with a fresh fruity aroma, including pears and honeydew with an underlying minerality. The palate has good length, balanced zesty acidity and a lingering continuity. click here for full tasting note

	2009 Ink Series Petit Verdot
	This wine displays a deep plum colour. The nose shows typical rich violets, dried petals, herbs and blackcurrant. The palate shows a superbly rounded and full, yet pleasingly supple, structure. This wine has a deceptively full-weighted palate and a well integrated oak complexity that enhances and balances the intense fruit characters. While young this wine exhibits varietal dried flower, herb and violet notes, however, with age there is the potential for extraordinary complexity with the development of interesting tobacco leaf and black olive characters.

	2011 Ink Series Sangiovese
	This lighter styled Sangiovese gives wonderful aromas of cherry and violet with a hint of clove, the palate is highly flavoursome with subtle oak complexity and lingering tannins that will become supple with age. click here for full tasting note

	Pale straw with green edge, the nose shows white peach and lemon lime citrus, with an abundant floral lift. The palate is crisp and fresh with flinty acidity. click here for full tasting note
